Neutrals have always been popular in quilts. Recently we have been seeing a combination of neutrals and black, which gives a very distinctive, contemporary, sophisticated look.
We used pieces from our Classical Elements collection as a basis for a quilt project.
We added in black and white fabrics from our upcoming Illustrations collection, which is arriving in quilt shops in August (you’re seeing a preview here).
Lastly, for just a dash of color, we included something from
our upcoming Bear Essentials 2
collection, which is coming out in September.
We used 2 ½” strips and 2 ½” squares to make a simple block with two variations, and then flipped and turned the blocks until we found a pattern we liked. The results are exciting!
Nancy Mahoney designed this quilt for us, using just one accent color, but you could have fun with it by using all different colors, creating diagonal lines with a few colors, or alternating just two colors in each block. You can download the free pattern from our web site, or by clicking here, and play with your own color combinations. Have fun!
